The most challenging barrier I am currently facing is the style of learning, doing the VARK questionnaire offered many benefits to myself and how I currently view educating patients. After analyzing my results the aural and kinsethetic learning styles really benefit me overall, which in turn has made online learning a bit difficult as it is mostly reading and writing. This has become a bit time consuming for me requiring extra time and effort to understand or hold attention to information. Finding videos online or listening to lectures or podcast relating to topics of discussion provided me with extra clarification regarding topics in my last class and also in relation to this class. My current work schedule has also been very trying, as I am orienting to the liver transplant team. This requires me to be on call several days of the week to come across a transplant because they are not typically scheduled but often only when an organ becomes available making time for school and home very challenging lately. The surgeries are also extremely long and a lot of information to learn and memorize but something I have wanted to do for a while now and was given the opportunity to be apart of the team a few weeks ago with a staff member leaving. However I plan to continue to reach out for help or employ added support from family and friends to make this process as stress free and enjoyable as possible. I have waited a long time to go back to school and see it as a great privilege, so doing my best in class will remain a priority for myself, family and future patients.
