After reading Chapter 5 in the University Success Guide: Finding Your Purpose and the The Writing Process: Citing Sources, answer the following questions: 

•          What is scholarly research?
•          What has been your previous experience using scholarly research?
•          Why is it important to use in an academic setting?

A scholarly involves the use of authoritative sources to gain a better understanding of a subject and to contribute new ideas:  Scholarly research is the act of locating authorization sources of information written by experts in their fields. Its knowledge in a particular field by sharing new research findings, theories, analyses, insights news, or summaries. of current knowledge.  I haven’t quite used scholarly research I’m learning it in class now. I’ve learned how to cite the source where I use other people material so I can tell where I got it from. As I continue to read about scholarly research, I come to understand that I use this type of research when doing science projects in elementary school I had to analyze and find a thesis to my hypothesis.  Using credible academic sources in an academic setting is crucial because it ensures the information presented is accurate, reliable, and based on rigorous research, which is essential for building strong arguments, demonstrating a deep understanding of a topic, and maintaining academic integrity within your work; essentially, it allows you to contribute to the field of knowledge with well-supported evidence rather than personal opinions or unreliable information.

For me, Scholarly research is about digging deeply into a subject to expand or challenge what is already known. It means relying on trusted, peer-reviewed sources and carefully analyzing both new and existing information. I know it is important to back up my work with solid citations, not only to give credit but to make sure my research holds up to academic standards and contributes meaningfully to the field. My previous experience using scholarly research has been very little. The few classes I took at my previous attempt at community college, I did not have to write essays in any of them. I cannot recall using scholarly research in my small-town high school. Scholarly research is important in an academic setting because it ensures that the information we use and produce is credible, well-supported, and contributes to the existing body of knowledge. It teaches you to critically evaluate sources, build on previous research, and develop well-informed arguments. In this way, I am not just learning for myself, but also to contribute to the academic community, helping advance understanding in the respective field. Plus, it reinforces the importance of integrity, ensuring that all sources are properly cited and that the research is trustworthy.
